Lupus

Lupus is a chronic inflammatory auto-immune disease.

This condition occurs when your body's immune system attacks your own tissues causing inflammation, swelling and pain.

The inflammation caused by lupus affects many different parts of your body systems which include your joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs.

Lupus is difficult to diagnose because its signs and symptoms often mimic those of other ailments.

A facial rash that resembles the wings of a butterfly on your cheeks is the most noticeable sign of lupus which occurs in many but not all cases of lupus.

Lupus can be triggered by infections, drugs allergy or even sunlight, some people are born with a tendency toward developing lupus.

Lupus is not contagious but hereditary. It is beneficial that you check your family health information.

There is no non cure for lupus but treatments can help control symptoms.

Symptoms

No two cases of lupus are the same.

Signs and symptoms of lupus can be varied, it can come suddenly or develop slowly, it can be mild or severe and it can be temporary or permanent.

Most lupus is mild as it can be characterized by episodes or flares.

The signs and symptoms will get worse initially, then improve or even disappear completely for some time.

The signs and symptoms will depend on which body systems are affected by the disease.

The most common signs and symptoms are,

* Fatigue and fever

* Joint pain, stiffness and swelling

* Butterfly-shaped rash on your face that covers your
   cheeks and the bridge of your nose

   exposed to cold or during stressful periods a
   condition known as Raynaud's phenomenon

* Shortness of breath

* Dry eyes

* Headaches, confusion and memory loss

Causes

Lupus happens when your immune system attacks the healthy tissue in your body.

It may be the results from a combination of your genes and the environment.

It is found that those who inherited predisposition for lupus may develop the disease when they come into contact with certain element in the environment that triggers lupus.

Most cases of lupus are unknown and some possible triggers might include:

* Sunlight

Exposure to the sun may bring about lupus skin lesions or triggers an internal response in susceptible people.

* Medications

Certain types of anti-seizure medications, blood pressure medications and antibiotics can triggers lupus.

In drug-induced lupus usually the symptoms will go away when you stop taking the medication.

Risk factors

Factors that increase your risk of lupus are:

* Your sex - Lupus is more common in women.

* Age - Although lupus affects people of all ages but
            most often lupus affect male between the
            ages of 18 and 40.

* Race - Lupus is more common in African Americans,
             Hispanics and Asians.

90 percent or the majorities of people with lupus are female, but if you’re a man and has been diagnosed with lupus, the numbers does not really matter.

Zinc In Your Body

You can be hard on your body.

And the more active you are, the more stress your muscular skeletal system will be.

Zinc in your body play an important role in cell building and repair particularly after every strenuous activities.

Any act of exercising from running to weight training to even raking the lawn puts stress on your muscles.

On a cellular level, when we use your muscles, you literally break them down.

While at rest, your muscles will grow back, bigger and stronger.

Zinc is the key component during this process by providing proper structure to the cells and proteins and also helping you get the rest that the process requires.

When your muscles are at work, they expend considerable energy, leading to the production of free radicals.

Intense training can result in heavy sweating and with inadequate caloric intake will leads to insufficient levels of zinc.

Zinc also plays an important role as an antioxidant that is crucial in mitigating the adverse effects of free radicals.

During your rigorous fitness regimen monitor your zinc intake.

Make sure you maintain adequate zinc levels.

If you are out of breath or tired very easily during your ‘exercising activities’ you may be suffering from zinc deficiency.

Your heart had to work harder to complete these exercise routines.

In your body there is an enzyme called carbonic anhydrase, it is dependent on zinc.

Carbonic anhydrase enzyme is found in your red blood cells, gastric mucosa, pancreatic cells and renal tubules.

The main function of this enzyme is to maintain acid-base balance in your blood and other tissues by interconvert carbon dioxide and bicarbonate and also help transport carbon dioxide out of your body.

Carbonic anhydrase plays an important role in respiration and also functions in the formation of hydrochloric acid by your stomach.

Your body will reduce the function of this particular enzyme if you consume insufficient zinc that is less than the recommended daily amount.

The U.S. Recommended Dietary Allowance, or RDA, is the minimum amount of a nutrient needed by most people to stay healthy.

The RDA for zinc is 11 mg daily for men.

The U. S. Food and Nutrition Board have established the upper limits, or UL, of safe daily intake for most nutrients.

The UL for zinc is 40 mg per day.

Too much zinc can cause serious health problems.

Consider the daily amount of zinc already generated from your diet.

The side effects are minimal, when the zinc you consumed each day is within the normal limit.

Symptoms of toxicity from excessive zinc ingestion are,

* headaches

* nausea

* vomiting

* stomach cramps

* diarrhea

* and loss of appetite

Reaching 40 Years Of Age And Beyond

You would be thrilled to reach forty years of age.

All this while, you have been observing the wellness industry through the years, promoting and targeting products marketed for those over 40 but never thought it would happen to you until now.

The worst part of turning 40 is when you are being referred to as middle aged.

Do you think being 40 years old as middle age?

And, you are sure you do not look like one.

Those who are 40 do not think so either.

Now that you are 40 and some over 40, they expect you to put on weight, have less energy and should have some kind of mid-life crisis.

You can choose to ignore all that or what is expected of someone your age and you should live on your own terms.

Forget about being 40, 50, 60 and 100 or more, this is your life, you can still be anything you want to be when you grow older.

It is not too late.

Focus and keep your eye on what you want and go for it.

You must have read or seen on a commercial about people over 40.

They mentioned that people over 40 had to exercise every day for at least one hour so as not to gain weight.

Everyone over 40 should be exercising at least an hour a day for their own health.

As for man over 40, you should be serious about weight training as your metabolisms slow down annually starting from the age 20.

The best way for you to fight degrading metabolisms is through weight training.

You should start with cardiovascular exercise to keep your heart strong as part of your total fitness goal.

But, no matter how much you eat right and exercise on weight, your hormonal issues are the deciding factor.

Many people overestimate the amount of eating and exercising they need.

Start by working with your professional trainer before you decide on how to tackle the hormone issue.

Do not agree with those over 40 and beyond people who said that, “Upon reaching 40, you are supposed to gain weight."

This mentality will hinder you from keeping yourself healthy and fit.

You should believe in yourself to be fit beyond 40 and to accomplish this goal immediately.

Presently in the US, many people over 40 and beyond are struggling with weight problems.

It can be a huge blow to your moral and self-confidence.

Due to stress and lack of sleep, you will gain a few or more pounds.

Let’s salute those who find time to keep themselves healthy and fit beyond 40.

Knowing that the situation is never ending and that someone is able to go through these conditions successfully, you will be greatly motivated to follow their footsteps and do your best to uplift your self-esteem and spirits.

So, now that you are 40.

What now?

What is your immediate goal?

Whether you want to change career, go back to school, start a business, marriage or anything.

Start working on it today, go out there and show the world how fabulous being 40 is.

As the saying goes, “Life begins at 40.”

Live towards more birthdays beyond 40.
