3 Simple Stop Smoking Tips

To stop smoking is not easy.

You must be determined to quit smoking. Know what motivate you to stop smoking, come out with a plan and rewards each step of your success.

These are 3 simple tips to stop smoking.

1. Know what motivate you

Know first why you want to stop smoking because this will determine the outcome of your stop smoking campaign.

What motivate you to stop smoking guiding your will and your determination.

When you have the urge to smoke, your mind automatically reminds you not to.

Your motivations could be,

* For your children?

You want to see them growing up, go through college, having successful career, marriage and having their own children.

* For your wife?

Going through family life together with your wife till old age and supporting each other once your children are marriage, leaving you to start their own family.

* For your health?

Stay and remain healthy so that you will be able to work to support your family.

* For your girlfriend?

She did not smoke and she does not like people who smoke.

* To save money.

Save enough money to get married and start a family.

* To avoid affecting those people around you especially your family with secondhand smoke.

Think of a good reason to quit smoking.

List them, print them out and paste the motivation factors everywhere or areas where you use to smoke.

2. Plan

You cannot just wake up one date and say, “I want to quit smoking today”.

It might work but it does not most of the time.

You need to have a plan to prepare yourself.

Plan it out.

* Set dateline

You are going to stop smoking in 6 month time.

* Inform people around that you are going to stop smoking.

Your smoking buddies might be kind enough not to offer you cigarette or they will not smoke in your present.

* Reduce

Reduce the number of box or cigarette sticks per day.

Prepare a “rescue kit” keep sugar-free sweets in your pocket and download games into your hand phone to play when you have the urge to smoke so to distract you from your cravings.

* Delay tactic

When you have the urge to smoke, take your time taking out your cigarette from your pocket and lighting it up.

Do not bring along your cigarette with you, if your are at home put your cigarette far away from you so that you have to make the effort or make it difficult for your to reach a cigarette to smoke.

* Breathing tactic

Breathe in 3 times slowly before your take out your cigarette, breathe in 3 times slowly before putting the cigarette on to your lips and breathe in 3 times slowly before lighting up your cigarette.

* Drink water

Drink a lot of water, especially plain water.

Do not drink caffeinated water.

* Make yourself busy

Do something that can distract or make you forget about smoking.

* Stay away from other smoker

Bird of a feather flocks together. If you do not want be one of them (smoker), the right thing to do is to stay away from other smoker.

3. Reward Yourself

Set up your reward system in stages.

Reward yourself after the first successful day, second and third.

Follow by, after the first three successful weeks.

Then, after the first three successful months.

And, at the end of your successful stop smoking campaign.

Think of a reward that you will be looking forward to.

Example:

CDs, books, DVDs, T-shirts, shoes, watch or a bicycle.

Put whatever amount of money that you save from not spending on cigarette in a jar, make use of the money to buy your rewards.

Celebrate your success with a holiday.

You deserve it.
