Testicular cancer is a cancer that affects your testicles.
Testicles are reproductive glands that produce male sex hormones and sperm.
Testicles are also called testes and are located below your penis, in a pouch called the scrotum.
Testicular cancer can affect one or both testicles.
Testicular cancer represents just a small portion of all male cancers but it is the most common cancers in men aged 20 - 40 years.
The good news is, testicular cancer is treatable male cancer.
Types Of Testicular Cancer
Testicular cancer begins in the cells that produce sperm, called germ cells.
There are two main types of germ cell tumours,
1. Seminoma
2. Non-seminoma
Seminoma
Seminoma testicular cancer is a slow growing cancer affecting men aged between 25 to 45 years old and also older men aged 55 to 60 years old.
Non-seminoma
Non-seminoma testicular cancer is more aggressive and is more likely to occur in younger men aged 15 to 35 years old.
It can spread to the bones and other organs such as the lungs, liver and brain.
Testicular cancer with both seminoma and non-seminoma cells are present, is treated as non-seminoma.
Testicular Cancer Causes And Risk Factors
The cause of testicular cancer is unknown but there are 4 Risk Factors Associated With Testicular Cancer.
1. Cryptorchidism or undescended testicle:
The testicles normally form in the abdomen of a male foetus and descend into the scrotum before birth, or within three months after birth.
In some cases, one or both testicles may not descend into the scrotum and remain in the abdomen.
This condition is known as cryptorchidism. It can be corrected with surgery.
But, even if it is corrected with surgery, may still be at risk of developing testicular cancer in later years.
2. Klinefelter’s syndrome:
This is a genetic disorder causing abnormal testicle development.
3. Personal or family history of testicular cancer.
4. Age between 20 and 40 years old.
Testicular Cancer Is Treatable When Detected Early
Testicular cancer typically presents with a painless lump in one or both testicles.
You may also be a heavy sensation in the testicle.
Testicular cancer symptoms do not always involve the testes. They may include the following:
1. A swelling or lump in one or both testicles. Often, with no pain.
2. A feeling of heaviness in the scrotum.
3. A dull ache or feeling of pressure in the lower abdomen or groin.
In advanced cases, where the cancer might have spread beyond the testicles, you may also be suffering from more general symptoms such as:
- Lower back pain
- Fatigue and sluggishness
- Excessive sweating
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain
- Fever
Diagnosis And Stages Of Testicular Cancer
Most often, testicular cancer is discovered at home during self-examination. But, the following are, how testicular is being diagnosed.
These are 4 Ways Used To Diagnose Testicular Cancer.
1. Testicular ultrasound.
2. Blood tests to determine the level of tumour markers.
3. Removal of the affected testicle.
4. CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis.
There are 3 Stages Of Testicular Cancer
Stage 1: The cancer is limited to the testicles.
Stage 2: It has spread to the lymph nodes within the abdomen or pelvis.
Stage 3: The cancer has spread beyond the abdomen to other parts of the body.
In advanced cases, a CT scan of the chest and the brain may be performed to determine the extent of spread of the cancer.
Testicular Cancer Treatments
Testicular cancer treatment depends on the type and stage of the cancer, and the general health of a patient.
Treatment options include,
1. Surgery
2. Radiation therapy
3. Chemotherapy.
Surgery
The primary treatment for all types and stages of testicular cancer is surgical removal of the testicle, called radical inguinal orchiectomy.
The orchiectomy also provides the actual diagnosis of testicular cancer.
During an orchiectomy, the surgeon will make a small incision in the groin and remove the entire cancerous testicle or testicles.
If the patient so wishes, he can have a prosthetic testicle inserted in place of the cancerous one.
An orchiectomy can be done as an outpatient or inpatient procedure, depending on the overall health of the patient.
Surgery may be followed by radiation or chemotherapy to contain the spread of cancer and reduce the risk of its recurrence.
If the cancer is at stage 1, it may be possible to have no further treatment other than regular follow-up visits to your doctor, after the orchiectomy.
Early stage testicular cancer has been associated with a cure rate of more than 95 per cent. Your doctor will discuss this option with you. Whichever option you choose, you will be closely monitored by regular measurements of your blood markers and radiological assessments to check for any recurrence of cancer.
Radiation
In this treatment procedure, X-rays are used to kill cancer cells.
Seminoma testicular cancer is a slow spreading cancer which responds well to radiation.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy, which uses drugs to kill cancer cells, is effective after surgery in advanced cases of both seminoma and non-seminoma testicular cancer.
The more aggressive non-seminoma testicular cancer is more effectively treated by chemotherapy than by radiation therapy.
Chemotherapy is used when the advanced cancer involved distant lymph nodes, organs such as the lungs or liver, or in recurrent disease.
However, chemotherapy has some side effects, the most serious being an increased risk of infertility.
Your ability to father children may be affected by chemotherapy.
Your doctor may refer you to a reproductive clinic so that can consider freezing your sperm for future use.

Stupid People Are Heavy Drinkers
You cannot drink yourself stupid. In fact, it’s the opposite. Stupid people are heavy drinker.
A study conducted by researchers from the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden showed that men with lower IQ consumed more alcohol than men with higher IQ.
It got to do with their cognitive ability, according to Sara Sjolund, a student at the institute and corresponding author for the study.
Cognition abilities have to do with how a person understands and reacts.
It is a set of skills or processes that are part of your actions.
They are brain-based skills needed to carry out any task from the simplest to the most complex. Cognition is a learning mechanism, how you learn to do and remember things and problem solving as compared to actual knowledge.
Other reasons why people got drank are, economic background and social status.
Normally stupid people are poor and they are at the lowest social ranking.
They may experience frustrations in life due to their economic and social conditions which in turn, leads to a bad choice of heavy drinking to drunk away their sorrows.
What the research found was a clear link between lower intelligence and heavy drinking.
But, this is just a study from one country covering a very small segment of the world population.
Anyway, related government agency can take note of these conditions affecting their uneducated and poor population.

Zinc Up Your Body
Zinc is vital for many biological functions and plays an important role in more than 300 enzymes in your body.
An adult body contains between 2-3 grams of zinc.
Zinc can be found in all parts of your body, your organs, tissues, bones, fluids and cells.
Your muscles and bones account for 90% of zinc in your body and high concentrations of zinc can be found in your prostate gland and semen.
Zinc is vital for growth in height, weight and bone development.
Zinc plays an important role in male fertility by protecting your prostate gland from infection (prostatitis) and ultimately from enlargement (prostatic hypertrophy).
Zinc helps maintain sperm count and mobility and ensures normal levels of serum testosterone.
Zinc is vital for the immune system.
Among all the vitamins and minerals, zinc has the strongest effect on your immune system.
Zinc plays a unique role in the T-cells.
Low zinc levels lead to reduced and weakened T-cells causing your body from recognizing and fighting off infections.
Increased of the zinc level help fight pneumonia and diarrhea, zinc can also reduce the duration and severity of a common cold.
Zinc is vital for taste, smell and appetite.
Zinc activates the areas in your brain that receive and process information from the taste and smell sensors.
Higher level of zinc in plasma and the effect of zinc on other nutrients, like copper and manganese, influence your appetite and taste preference.
Zinc is used in the treatment of anorexia.
Zinc is vital for skin, hair and nails.
Zinc accelerates skin cell growth.
Zinc has proven to be effective in treating psoriasis and neurodermitis.
Zinc is used as an anti-inflammatory agent and is able to sooth skin tissue, in cases of poison ivy, sunburn, blisters and gum diseases.
Zinc is important for healthy hair.
Insufficient zinc levels lead to hair loss, thinning hair and hair turning grey early.
Shampoos which contain zinc help prevent dandruff.
Zinc is vital for vision.
High concentrations of zinc can be found in your retina.
As you aged, the zinc in your retinal decreases causing the development of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which in turn leads to partial or complete loss of vision.
Zinc also protects you from night blindness and prevent the development of cataracts.
Everyone needs zinc, you need zinc for health.
You can get zinc from the food you eat.
The major sources of zinc are red meat, poultry, fish and seafood, whole cereals and dairy products.
To provide your body with zinc eat a balanced diet.
Take zinc supplements if your nutritional intake is insufficient.
Large doses of zinc should not be taken over a prolonged period of time without your doctor’s direction.
Your body needs regular intake of zinc, recommended daily intakes for men is 15mg.
The most common zinc deficiency symptoms include dry and rough skin, dull looking hair, brittle finger nails, white spots on nails, reduced taste and smell, loss of appetite, mood swings, reduced adaptation to darkness, frequent infections, delayed wound healing, dermatitis and acne.
These symptoms can be corrected by supplying your body with the right amount of zinc each day.
The limit for daily zinc intake is 40 mg per day.
Doses over 40 mg per day may cause gastrointestinal reactions including nausea, vomiting, cramps and discomfort, a metallic taste in the mouth, headache and drowsiness.
High doses of zinc may react against other nutrients, especially copper, calcium and iron.

5 Recommended Tips To Prevent Osteoarthritis
With aging population, an elderly health condition such as osteoarthritis (OA) is set to increase in the future.
OA is the most common form of arthritis.
Osteoarthritis is not just the wearing down of cartilage due to aging, but that the whole joint is problematic.
OA is caused by excess body weight, muscle laxity, joint misalignment and also due to past joint injuries.
There are a variety of osteoarthritis treatments available.
You do not need to bear with joint pain and swelling.
Here are 5 steps you can take to prevent osteoarthritis.
5 Tips to prevent osteoarthritis
1. Avoid injuries
2. Keep your muscles strong
3. Manage your weight
4. Eat healthy
5. Lessen strain on your joints
Avoid injuries
Suffering a joint injury when you are young can lead to osteoarthritis when you get older.
Avoid joint injuries when exercising or playing sports,
• Do warm-up exercises before starting any sport.
• Wear proper footwear that provides good absorption
and stability.
• Avoid running on hard surface such as asphalt or
concrete.
• When jumping, land with both knees bent.
• Keep your feet as flat as possible during stretches
to avoid twisting knees.
• When you do knee bends, avoid bending more than
90°.
• After engaging in vigorous sports, perform cool down
exercises.
Keep your muscles strong
There is a link between having weak thigh muscles and the risk of developing knee osteoarthritis.
Muscles help support your joints, having strong muscles help prevent osteoarthritis.
Swimming and cycling are good examples of exercises that do not overload your joints.
Manage your weight
Excess weight adds stress on your joints, especially those that bear your body weight such as the knees, hips and joints of the feet.
The load you put on your knee joints can be four times your own body weight.
If you are overweight and free of osteoarthritis, losing weight can help prevent the disease.
And if you already have osteoarthritis, weight loss can help improve your osteoarthritis symptoms.
Eat healthy
There is no specific diet that prevents osteoarthritis, but eating a well-balanced diet can help maintain your ideal weight, which is beneficial to your joints.
It is best to get your vitamin intake through your diet instead of supplements.
So far, there is no conclusive evidence that suggest omega-3 or any other supplements (including glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and etc…) or vitamins can help you with osteoarthritis.
Lessen strain on your joints
Avoid putting continuous stress on your joints such as, continually carrying heavy objects.
What you should do to avoid injury during lifting,
• Spread your feet apart to give your body a wide base
of support.
• Stand close to the object you are lifting, squat down
by bending at your knees.
• Look straight ahead while keeping your back
straight, bring the object as close to your body as
possible and slowly lift, using your hips and knees
muscles.
• Straighten your back and squat to set the object
down.
If you already suffering from osteoarthritis, there are treatments your doctor can recommend to you to cope with your condition.
However, exercise and weight reduction are still the best therapies.
Exercises improve your physical health and reduce the joint pain in osteoarthritis.

Even with minimum weight loss helps reduce joint pain.

Shaking And Tremor
As you grow old, you start to encounter many diseases.
The most common disease that strikes elderly is the problem with shaking and tremor.
Tremors are the movement of a particular part of your body that cannot be controlled and have a distinctive rhythm or pattern.
These problems often cause difficulties and stress to the sufferer and their family members even though it is the most common movement disorder encountered.
All of your body parts are not exempted from experiencing tremors.
When tremor strikes, you will have problem with writing, drinking water from a cup and dialing your telephone.
There are 3 types of tremor.
1. Tremor strikes at rest
It occurs when your body is supported entirely from the effects of gravity when fully rested hands on thighs.
This is common in Parkinson's Disease patients.
2. Postural tremor
It occurs when your body motion is at the opposite of the gravity when your hand is raised and maintained at that level above your shoulder.
3. Action tremor
It occurs when your body parts in a controlled movement.
Doctors identified the cause of tremor as common, due to relative motion as it is controlled by your brain functions including tracks corticospinal (pyramidal), nasal ganglia (extrapyrimidal system) and cerebellum.
Any damage to this part of the brain, such as stroke or Parkinson's disease can cause tremor.
These problems can also be caused by hereditary diseases.
However, not all the tremor caused by the disease alone.
Physiological tremor or Physiologic tremor is the most common among people who are not sick.
It may be more significant in certain situations such as low sugar level in the body or in the face of pressure.
The tremor can be reduced or overcome by having enough rest.
But not in non physiological tremor or non-physiologic tremor usually in regards to medical conditions such as Parkinson's disease, brain injury due to stroke and hereditary disease affecting the brain such as the spinocerebellar ataxia cerebellum.
Sometimes there are no real problem with shaking and tremor.
In psychogenic tremor, it has no specific pattern and may heal on its own or through psychological treatment.
None the less, if you suffer or having tremor problems, you should consult your doctor if it interferes with daily life or if you have any doubts.
In all shaking and tremor medical history and examination is usually required, a patient may be asked to clarify their condition during the most severe tremor occurrence.
This information can give your doctor some idea what causes the tremor or when will it happen.
For example, postural tremor may be more apparent during certain activities such as holding a glass.
Questions about other neurological problems such as difficulty with motor skill activities such as wearing a button or write or trouble walking will also be asked because it may be caused by Parkinson's disease.
The tremor sufferers will also be asked about the health problems of their family members because the information help to detect medical problems such as Essential Tremor which is hereditary oriented.
Your doctor will perform a physical examination and neurological care.
Many specialized tests such as brain scans or nerve conduction studies can also be conducted to determine the type of tremor that you might have.

Drink Your Milk, It’s Good For You
A record shows that milk consumption is low among the world population.
Although getting milk is as easy as walking into a supermarket and picking up a carton.
Why are you not drinking enough amount of milk as you need to?
By not doing so, you are depriving yourselves of calcium, the food for your bone.
Why calcium is important?
The main function of calcium is to build bones.
Your bones contain about 99 per cent of your body’s calcium, only 1 percent is found in your body fluids and cells.
Calcium helps your bones remain strong by reducing the rate of age-related bone loss.
Calcium also, aids in muscle contraction and heart beats.
Low of calcium ions in the blood know as Hypocalcaemia can lead to muscle pain and spasms as well as numbness in the hands and feet.
Calcium helps in the blood-clotting process and ensures normal nerve function.
How to get milk into your diet?
Other than drinking milk directly, here are some of the ways how you can get milk into your diet.
• Use yoghurt as a dressing for salads.
• Add milk to your coffee, tea or malted drinks during our coffee break.
• Use cheese to your morning breakfast sandwich fillings.
• Use flavoured milk or blended milk with fruit juices when preparing your nutritious milk shakes.
• You can also add milk to your dishes (curries), soups and cereals.
Misconception about milk
If you consumed milk, you may get kidney stones.
Research does not support this misconception.
However, it is advised that you take the recommended amount of milk needed as excessive calcium can impaired iron absorption.
High consumption of milk may leads to prostate cancer in men.
A recent analysis of a Harvard University study conducted on male health professionals shows that it does indicate an increased risk of prostate cancer among those who consumed very high amounts of calcium compared with those who consumed less.
However, the results point to a link between prostate cancer and calcium but not with dairy products.
Why are you not drinking enough milk?
There could be a number of reasons for these phenomena.
Such as;
• Dislike for dairy products.
• Poor consumption of milk and milk-based drinks.
• Lactose intolerance to milk and other dairy products.
• Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption of calcium by the intestines.
Eat well
There is no such thing as good or bad foods.
But, there is such a thing as good or bad eating habits.
So enjoy your foods in varieties, balance and moderation.

9 Causes Why You Cannot Sleep
Insomnia: Sleep Disorder > 9 Causes Why You Cannot Sleep
1. Coffee
Caffeine blocks the sleep-inducing action of your brain chemical named adenosine.
It can also reduce the amount of hormone melatonin that make you sleep.
Not only will caffeine make you stay awake but also you will sleep restlessly.
In a study in Israeli, participants given coffee, had half the amount of melatonin in their systems when compared with those who were given decaf.
They also took double the time to fall asleep and sleep an average of 79 minutes less.
2. Light
Before going to bed, doing your work on a computer or laptop, playing with your electronic device iPad or tablet and watching your favorite drama or movie spending two hours in front of the tube may help you wind down, but these activities send signals to your body system to stay awake as it is still daylight.
Your sleep hormones kick in at about 9 or 10pm, but if your bedroom did not get dark, your body holds off on melatonin production, making it harder for you to fall asleep.
3. Biology
You are being trained to believe that you need an uninterrupted seven to eight hours of sleep but a research by historian A. Roger Ekirch of Virginia Tech found that people from the past in many cultures traditionally had two distinct sleep periods per night, separated by an hour or so of wakefulness.
Therefore, it is normal to sleep in split shifts.
Today, you would toss and turn, worried that you will never go to get back to sleep.
4. Alcohol
While drinking alcoholic beverages will knock you off, alcohol actually disrupts sleep patterns.
You will wake up more often, you will get more deep sleep at the start of the night and restless sleep in the second half of the night.
Thus ending up feeling unrested the next day.
5. Worry
Your emotion plays an important part in how well you sleep, it is like an invisible arm that shake you out of your sleep.
People with sleep problems also have anxiety or depression.
6. Age
As you get older, you are more likely to have long periods of wakefulness, often in the third quarter of the night or early morning.
When you are in your 20s and 30s, you will start getting less and less of the deeper stages of sleep.
That is why even healthy older people have sleep disruptions, when you are not as deeply asleep, anything is likely to wake you.
Age may have a smaller impact on sleep than you might have thought.
In a 2010 British study, older people are found to have slept only about 20 minutes less a night than middle-aged men and women, who in turn slept only 23 minutes less than young adults.
In her research Jeanne Duffy, Ph.D, Harvard sleep researcher, found that healthy older people can miss sleep or even stay up all night and not feeling exhausted the following day as someone younger might.
7. Pain Or Discomfort
Back pain and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) are two major causes of sleep disruption.
GERD is a condition in which the ring of muscle fibers (or sphincter) in the esophagus cannot prevent the back flow of stomach contents into the throat.
8. Obstruction Sleep Apnea (OSA)
When you have this condition, your breathing stops periodically, sometimes for a minute and restart breathing again.
OSA is caused by a blockage of the airway, usually when the soft tissue in the back of your throat collapses.
It may surprise you to know that OSA is the cause of your daytime sleepiness because you have been waking up all night but are not aware of its happening.
The OSA major symptom is a loud snore, ask your partner, whether you snore during sleep.
9. Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS)
If you awaken from your sleep because you have the irresistible urged to move your legs to stop them from tingling, you may have this nerve disorder.
It also leads to difficulty in fall back asleep and frequent waking.
RLS often runs in families and it tends to be worsened with stress.
If you have RLS, you would also have an additional condition called periodic limb movements in sleep, your legs jerk every 20 to 40 seconds in clusters throughout the night.
