Having a Hard Time?

You cannot run away from Erectile Dysfunction, as you reached 40 and above, you will notice that your erection is no longer as hard as before and it takes longer time to erect.

When an erection did occurs it lasted for a short period.

You may also feel that you are not interested in sex anymore.

Sometime there are other underlying causes of Erectile Dysfunction such as Heart Disease, so it is important to take your condition seriously.

Beside your age, there are many causes of Erectile Dysfunction. Below are the two known causes of Erectile Dysfunction.

1. Diabetes

2. High Blood Pressure

Diabetes
Erection Problem usually involves the nerves and blood vessel that serves the penis and the spinal cord.

Diabetes is the common causes of these problems.

In diabetes, the main risk factors for developing erectile dysfunction are:

Nerve damage (neuropathy)
Diabetes causes neuropathy or nerves damage in your body, including your penis.

Proper communication cannot be maintained by your body. Information cannot be sent and received according to your normal body functions.

The brain cannot send signal to the penis upon arousal.

Blood vessel (vascular) damage
Blood vessels becomes narrowed or hardened (atherosclerosis) leading to cardiovascular disease.

Your penis contains many small and fine vein and arteries. It will be the first to be affected by atherosclerosis.

Your sexual function will be disrupted.

Poor blood sugar control
Poor blood sugar control can inhibit nitric oxide production.

Lack of nitric oxide prevents the pressure of blood in the corpora cavernosa from raising enough to shut off penile veins.

Thus, allowing blood to flow out of your penis instead of remaining trapped for an erection.

High Blood Pressure (HBP)
High blood pressure is another significant factor for erectile dysfunction.

The main risk factors of high blood pressure are:

Damages arteries
High blood pressure applies added force on the artery walls.

This extra pressure will damage the arteries and leaving them vulnerable to plaque buildup and the narrowing of blood vessel, limiting blood flow.

The conditions associated with atherosclerosis.

That means, less blood flow to your penis and making it difficult to achieve or maintain an erection.

Extra pressure can also burst the many small and fine vein and arteries in your penis.

What you can do about it
Prevention is better than cure. Prevention has to start early or as soon as possible.

As you know, erection involves blood vessels. Taking care of your blood vessels will prevent or delay the onset of Erectile Dysfunction and other underlying disorders like heart attack and stroke.

Action you should take are,

Stop Smoking
Smoking causes your blood vessels to narrow, contributing to plaque that block and restrict blood flow.

Smoking also decreases nitric oxide levels.

Exercise Regularly
Exercise helps you to train and moderate your heart bit during vigorous activities.

Sexual intercourse requires a good effort tolerance and exercises regularly helps to develop this effort tolerance.

Maintain a Healthy Diet
You should take care of your diet. Make sure that you do not eat too much high fat or high cholesterol food.
